For the first time, a project of the Pyrenean Climate Change Observatory is promoting a citizen participation process of this kind.

This opening represents a further step in the OPCC’s commitment to bringing the knowledge generated through transboundary cooperation closer to society and transferring its results to the people and territories affected by the impacts of climate change.

Soils are a common heritage and a strategic resource for the future of the Pyrenees. They support biodiversity, regulate water, store carbon, sustain food production and play an essential role in climate change adaptation and natural disaster prevention. Their conservation requires coordinated action between territories, institutions, organisations and citizens.

In this context, SOLPYR presents the first draft of the Transboundary Action Plan for the Soils of the Pyrenees, the main result of Action A6 – Governance. This document is the outcome of a working process that has included a transboundary diagnosis, the identification of key stakeholders and the organisation of participatory workshops in the seven territories of the Working Community of the Pyrenees.

The public consultation is being carried out through the PARTICIPA PYRENEES platform, available in Spanish and French, and is open to anyone interested in or concerned about the future of Pyrenean soils who wishes to obtain more information, interact and share their views.

Citizen participation is structured around three channels:

• Share opinions on the measures proposed in the Transboundary Action Plan for the Soils of the Pyrenees through the link provided on the platform.
• Consult the full draft of the PATSP and share contributions through a short questionnaire, available from 6 July.
• Take part in the virtual meetings to be held in October, designed as spaces for exchange and dialogue with interested individuals and organisations.

The contributions received will be analysed during the preparation of the final version of the Plan, thereby ensuring the traceability of the contributions made.

The Transboundary Action Plan for the Soils of the Pyrenees aims to become a reference for transboundary cooperation in sustainable soil management. It will also help connect the initiatives developed across the Pyrenean massif with European strategies and policies in this field.

The public consultation will remain open on this platform until September 2026. Preserving today’s soils means securing the future of the Pyrenees. Your participation can help build, together, the future of Pyrenean soils.
