4 per 1000 initiative and new tangible global challenges for the soil

An international conference organized by the Inra in collaboration with the University of Poitiers, France.

Date: 17th to 20th of June 2019

Location: Poitiers, France

The 4 per 1000 initiative launched in 2015 is a global initiative promoting the implementation of more ecological agricultural practices allowing for higher carbon sequestration as well as food security in the future. Land use is an important part of the political and socio-economic debate on climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The conference and roundtables will foster an exchange between scientists, decision makers, funding organizations (agencies), and geopolitical entities to discuss critical issues and realistic opportunities and challenges for the implementation of the initiative.

The goal of this conferemce is also to help build partnerships for soil sustainability and resilience, promote innovation and knowledge exchange, and ensure that appropriate solutions are put into practice under the framework of the 4 per 1000 initiative.
