The OPCC2 project is one of the 8 finalist projects in the Interreg Project Slam competition, selected among more than 40 applications from all over Europe. The competition supports innovation and creativity in means of communication of Interreg projects, which help to raise awareness of Interreg and European cohesion policies among the general public.
The geoportal has been developed by the OPCC as one of its most powerful tools for providing the general public with access to crucial data on the impacts of climate change in the Pyrenees.
The layers of geolocated information available in the portal are complemented over the years by the OPCC’s partner projects conducting crossborder research on both sides of the Pyrenees.
On May 30 2019, the Moraine association (French Pyrenees Glaciers Observatory) successfully completed its annual measurement of the average accumulation in the form of snow over the entire Ossoue glacier.
On the 4th and 5th of June 2019 took place the field visit of the PHUSICOS project in the Pyrenees, which works for territorial adaptation to natural hazards. The 4th of June was dedicated to the visit of different sites in the Bastan valley and the 5th of June to the visit of Pourtalet and different NBS sites.
Based on the sediment sequence from Marboré Lake (42°41′44.27″N, 0° 2′24.07″E, 2612 m a.s.l), we have selected lithological, compositional and pollen data to represent the main changes in the lake and the region during the last 15,000 years.
In order to identify examples of how to efficiently move from theory to practice in climate change adaptation, the OPCC launches a call for good climate change adaptation practices that have been implemented or are being implemented in the Pyrenees.
